Generics Over Branded Medicines
Generic pills are formulated with the same formula as well as ingredients used as a brand name medication. These generics gives identical effects and results as the more popular and expensive pills. Generic medicines are cheap alternatives for individuals who cant afford the price of brand name pills. Contrary to the belief of some people, generic drugs are checked and approved by the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Both are equally effective and safe.
All pills undergo stringent testing and evaluation by the FDA. These tests ensure that they have the same ingredients, composition and formulation as their brand name equivalents. Since generics and branded pills use the exact same compositions show that they are similarly efficient. Their efficiency is also more affordable, which is unlike the original brand name pills. The expensive cost of brand name drugs are because of the costs of development and research. Generic drug creators do not have to get back any expenses from researching and developing the medicines formula.
The cost of generic medicines can save more people. Health insurance companies benefit due to their lower prices too. Around seventy to ninety percent of the original cost is discounted through buying generic drugs. Majority of American physicians are recommending generics because of their affordable prices. The doctors, medical insurance firms and patients benefit from the cost effectiveness. The health insurance companies customers wont have to worry about their monthly payments increasing.
For the sake of evaluation, lets look at an anti depressant medicine. 30 tablets of a branded anti-depressant sells for $107; on the other hand, the generic alternative only costs less than $50. The price of diabetes treatment may be reduced by buying generic drugs. Youll change from $200 for brand name medicines to $100 in buying generic drugs for diabetes. If youre ordering a medicine that does not require prescription, you will be able to save by asking for a generic substitute from the pharmacist. The most affordable generic offerings are found in internet pharmacies. These pharmacies have bargain discounts and even price promos.
Alternative Medicine and It’s Use in Natural Pain Management
Chronic Pain conditions are a growing problem in the United States. And while the debate still rages about whether or not chronic pain should be managed as a separate condition or just a symptom of another problem it is clear that pain management has become a booming segment of the healthcare industry.
Consequently, the use of pharmaceutical drugs for pain control has also reached an all time high. Drugs like Oxicontin, Vicodin and methadone, are front page news in causing America’s latest drug crisis, as a result, the use of cocaine and heroin have also reached levels not seen in this country in 30 years.
Due to the economic and scientific phenomena of the pharmaceutical revolution of the 20th century, thousands of years of knowledge were suddenly abandoned. Herbal medicine has safely and effectively treated pain for millennia, and is for safer than the synthesized, processed medications that today’s doctors seem to be all too willing to hand out like so much candy.
In the realm of alternative medicine, there are many forms of natural pain management that are in fact, the basis of where many of our oh-so-popular pharmaceutical drugs come from.
Codeine and morphine are opium derivatives that may be effective but are also highly addictive, and even aspirin is a derivative of willow bark. Many other plants have been used in natural pain management since antiquity, such as lavender and chamomile for minor pain issues and these plants have the added benefit of also assisting with the emotional component of pain such as anxiety and difficulty sleeping. Plants like henbane and mandrake are so effective that they are even used very effectively during labor to ease the pain of childbirth.
Some wonderful and powerful herbal medicine can also be found in the spice cabinet. Spices like turmeric, and ginger are two of the most powerful anti- inflammatories on the planet. These plants are natural COX-2 inhibitors; they are the alternative medicine answer to the popular pharmaceutical drugs Celebrex and Vioxx. In the middle east, India and all over Asia where the diets are rich in spices like turmeric, and ginger and cayenne, where life is also far less convenient then our own, people have a far less occurrence of arthritis and chronic back pain, and continue to work very labor intensive jobs such as farming and agriculture work even into their 90’s.
There has always been an accepted school of thought in allopathic medicine that it is acceptable to injure one part of the body to heal another, thus even common over the counter NSAID pain relievers such as acetaminophen and ibuprofen, can cause long term damage, acetaminophen to the liver and ibuprofen to the kidneys, in natural pain management many plants, roots, barks, and other herbs not only antistetic in nature but they are also anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic as well, and herbal medicine is gentler on the system and is more synergistic with the body allowing for greater absorption of the necessary constitutes.
So you see that alternative medicine goes beyond the typically accepted ideal of treating just the symptoms and goes farther to treat many of the underlying causes as well as some of the other components involved in chronic pain conditions.
Resveratrol The Best (Easy) Medicine For Anti-Aging
You’ve Heard Red Wine’s Good For You? Here’s Why
by Michael D. Hume, M.S.
Years ago, researchers from Harvard Medical School (and others) found an impressive nutrient with the power to fight aging, improve cardio-vascular and neurologic health, and help the human body battle everything from fatigue to disease. It’s called “resveratrol,” and it’s the ingredient in red wine that you’ve heard so much talk about lately.
How does it work?
Well, Father Time is wreaking havoc on your body, all the time. As you grow older (especially if you can manage to do it in our modern fast-food-and-TV societies), your body is bombarded by toxins of all sorts, from airborne and food-borne toxins to the stuff your flourescent lights are putting out that’s slowly killing your brain. The bad stuff attacks your cells, and literally starts tearing them apart. You’ve heard the term “free radical,” right? Those are particles torn from your cells that are floating around inside you, looking to attach themselves to healthy cells (and thereby making those cells UN-healthy in short order). Even if you lived a brilliantly clean life (and you don’t), this would happen anyway… your cells just break down over time. The technical term for this is “oxidation,” and you know it as “gettin’ old.”
To fight the oxidation of their cells – from both natural aging and the more unnatural aspects of life in 2011 – people buy and consume mass quantities of “anti-oxidants.” Not enough people do this, of course, and you can almost see it in the color of their hair and the wrinkles in their skin. Anti-oxidants are VERY important, and should be one of the centerpieces of your daily supplement regimen. They work to help your body repair those damaged cells, safely eliminate those free radicals, and resist further damage. Think of anti-oxidants as the Health Patrol in your body, running around fixing and protecting you at the cellular level… and foiling the attacks of Father Time.
And one of the best anti-oxidants (if not THE best) is resveratrol.
That’s why many researchers are saying that, not only will a glass or two of red wine every day not kill you, it would be good for you. You actually get a tiny benefit from the alcohol (as long as you don’t overdo it), because it helps clean your blood and reduce your bad cholesterol. But the big bennies come from the resveratrol, the commanding general of that Health Patrol we talked about. Resveratrol, in the right concentration, literally turns on human genes that order your cells to fix themselves.
The trouble is, you’d have to drink hundreds of glasses of wine every day to get resveratrol in the “right concentration” to activate those genes. Here’s a hint: don’t do that. One day like that, and you’re off the planet… not to mention that, while drunkenness of any kind is horrible for you, red wine produces a particularly mean and unpleasant kind of hangover that you just don’t want. Or so somebody told me. Even slightly over-doing it, over time, can make you fat and lazy. Wine does contain sugar, after all, and sugar’s just not all that great for your body.
So many companies are putting out resveratrol supplements, and if you haven’t added such a supplement to your daily health regimen, you should. Is it the very best medicine for anti-aging? No, highly-expensive clinical gene therapy is probably better. But for the average person, resveratrol is the best “available” medicine to help your body fight the clock.
When choosing a resveratrol supplement, there are a few things you need to look for. First, don’t just cheap out. The quality, potency, and safety of resveratrol supplements varies greatly, and you don’t want to get what’s cheap if it isn’t good. You want to make sure the product you buy is safe: the nutrient should be high-quality, harvested from a location where they care about things like purity and human rights, tested to be free of agricultural chemicals, and manufactured in a safe (inspected) facility. And if you can, get an activated liquid product for optimal delivery of the nutrient to your cells (resveratrol is only moderately absorbed from the human gut).
I use just such a resveratrol supplement that mimics the wine I love to drink (but shouldn’t drink as much of as I sometimes have!). It even comes in a wine bottle, and I can mix just a little bit of it with water to make a glass of “fake wine” that’s REALLY good for me. I’ve been focusing on using it daily for a few days now, and I can really feel the difference in my energy level. And Friend Wife even told me this weekend that my face looks… younger!
I recommend resveratrol, taken in the right concentration with a healthy dose of the other thing that fights aging: optimism. Sure, the world is trying to make you old quickly these days, and you have to contend with everything from taking care of your business in your day job to dealing with the effects of a crumbling global economy. And do you really want to rely on government health care? But things will get better. For one thing, after a regimen of anti-oxidants such as resveratrol, you’ll be “younger” next month! You’ll have more energy to do battle with the challenges in your life. In short, your life improves as YOU take personal responsibility to improve yourself. And a strong commitment to daily health habits, such as consistent use of the miracle of resveratrol, will literally make you better every day.

Internal Medicine – Medical Detectives
Internal medicine experts are the detectives of the medical world, diagnosing problems affecting multiple areas of the body at once in a way that specialists cannot.
Generally speaking, all medicine is at it’s most basic level internal medicine. The body is a complex and extraordinary machine, made up of vastly different mechanisms all working in unison to propel our bodies through life. From the minutiae of our genes to the ways in which our body movies across our homes, the body is many parts that make a whole. However complex and beautiful the body may be, it is not invulnerable to harm.
There are many, many different ways in which we may injure ourselves and our bodies. In some cases, these injuries may in fact be the cause of genetic factors that have slowly, quietly been working on our bodies for years, seemingly beyond our control. To treat the myriad of problems that may befall our bodies, you will need a doctor well-versed in the study of internal medicine.
When presented with a problem, doctors will often become like detectives as they pursue the path to a diagnosis. Since our bodies entail so many different components that all affect each other, a quality doctor must be well-versed in all of these different body components in order to suss out the proper diagnosis.
The doctor will usually begin by examining the problem itself and how it presents itself. Using information gained from this primary examine, the doctor will next begin to look at your history and lifestyle, looking for direct factors that may explain the injury as well as factors not directly related to the injury or disorder that may still affect your treatment.
Once the problem has been diagnosed using all available information, your doctor will establish a plan of action to treat the problem. The goal during treatment will be treat the problem completely and quickly while also insuring that the treatment in no way further injures or stresses your body.
Both before and after a problem arises, your doctor can also work with you to prevent future problems. As in the diagnoses process, the doctor will examine your medical history, the available medical history of your family, and your lifestyle. Your doctor may even have you seek out detailed genetic testing. With all of this available information, your doctor will be able to help you preemptively treat problems before they arise.
To keep your whole body healthy and working fine, take the first step and find an internal medicine expert in your area today.
